Content Authoring

Pearson Education is one of the world’s largest textbook publishers for higher education institutions. In 2019, they began phasing out printed textbooks in favor of digital (ie. e-texts), and while overall production time improved, it remained surprisingly slow even without having to go to press. Pearson’s authoring tool was used by internal production team, and although it had a diverse set of features, it was developed without any systems-level thinking, becoming increasingly difficult to use for the team as its featureset expanded. I was brought on to design an intuitive, efficient producton tool, enabling users to create rich interactive content beyond the limitations of the age old textbook paradigm as a primary learning resource. This project was initiated and led by my design team, driving alignment and stakeholder buy-in through sound research, rapid prototyping, and testing with real users.
